When we were children we had amazing vivid imaginations. We had dreams of the future and what we would be when we grew up. We believed in the impossible. We believed in heroes. We believed in ourselves. However, as we started getting older some dream slipped away, others were dismissed and the older we get the more impossible everything seems. Ultimately, those dreams were shattered. Same thing happens to us when God places desires in our heart. Times goes by and we seem to believe that those dreams are just too big, too daunting, too impossible. We then face a dilemma because God says that with Him all things are possible (Matthew 19:26, Mark 10:27).
So how do we get from the point of disbelief back to complete faith? We learn to trust in the one who gave us the dreams in the first place. In order to be able to trust God, we need to know all that he is capable of.
God created the entire universe, not just Earth, not just the Milky Way Galaxy, the entire universe. God parted the Red Sea, fed the exodus in the wilderness. God rescued Joseph from his brothers and gives Him a kingdom. God gave Moses the runner, the job of saving His people from Pharaoh. God gave Gideon and 300 men the victory over thousands of soldiers. God gave a couple in old age a child, and numbers their descendants as numerous as the stars. God rescued Jonah from his own decision to run and delivered him from the whale and then allowed him to bring salvation to the Ninevites. God reached down and comforted Job in all the trials he faced, and after he persevered God granted him with ten times what he had in the beginning. God allows a young girl to become a queen in order to save her people from death. God helps Samson defeat the Philistines even after he makes a life changing mistake. God proves that Baal is powerless and that God alone is God, by burning up a drenched altar and consuming all that water, the offering and the entire altar, Baal did not even have a spark, not even a puff of smoke. God restores Ruth after she loses her husband and she ends up being an amazing part of Jesus' lineage. God floods the earth. God destroys the tower of Babel and creates languages. God turns a murderer into an apostle, and not just any apostle, the one responsible for the majority of the New Testament. God sends His Son to earth through the virgin Mary, and then saves all of humanity through allowing His Son to die on the cross. God heals, restores, rescues, empowers, sacrifices and loves.
When God gives us a dream it is to reach more of His children and bring them home. He will always bring these dreams to pass. His power overrides our inability, and ineptitude. God can do all things. It is when we embrace this truth that we can start believing in the impossible again. What dreams has God given you? Maybe it is time to revisit them and ask God where to start. You might just see the impossible come to pass.
